Todays Swim
Well, I broke through a major mental wall swimming today. Before this my longest continuous swim was 400 m or about 8 min. Today I swam for 30 min continuously. What a great feeling. Who would have ever thought that this time last year I could barely make it across a 25 m pool without major effort. This ironman is looking more achievable as the days go by. As well today I received my entry to Ironman Canada. So excited. What a fantastic day.

Don't feel like much of an Ironman today
Today's workout was just ok, just wasn't feeling the swim. Managed to complete half the prescribed workout and am now just bagged. How am I going to swim the distance of an Ironman. Thank goodness its the first of the events.
Perhaps yesterdays half marathon took more out of me than I thought. In terms of the run yesterday it was the Calgary Police Half Marathon. The conditions were terrible, it was a super slick course and that made the rolling hills that much more of an adventure. I still had a PR but still not happy with my time. I'm just so slow. On the plus side I did spin for an hour last night to flush the legs and get in another bike workout. 131 days and counting.

First Long Ride
Well this afternoon I hopped onto the trainer and pounded out some kilometres. The goal was to spin for 2:30 hours and it felt pretty good. My right knee bothered me but that is nothing new. Perhaps a proper fit on the bike would help that issue. I also have to remember to have nutrition on the bike. I have nutrition down for running, but on the bike its all new. Let's be honest this is whole process is all new.
Ironman Canada Here I Come
OMG!!! I won an entry into Ironman Canada in August from Sugoi. After the shock wore off of wining and of the task that has now been handed to me. I began training, finding coaching options, swim lessons (3.8 km is far) etc.
I have 139 days to prepare for this. How does an ordinary guy like me complete this. I guess there is no time like the present to step up the training. My run yesterday of 20 km pales in comparison of the task ahead. Thank you to Sugoi for this opportunity and I can't wait for this adventure to begin.
